Art is not simply a matter of putting color or design on canvas.  It is an expression of which creates a mood and awakens a viewers’ senses.  I am flattered when people pause, even momentarily, while viewing my work.  It tells me that something has captured their interest or sparked a memory.  I think every artist strives to have the viewer experience an emotion while viewing their work;  to feel the cold, to hear the wind, to smell the flowers, or to taste the bitter lime.  It is my goal to convey that feeling or essence to my painting.  Therefore, my paintings are my renditions of emotion.

I am often in awe of the colors in an Oklahoma sunset.  I love to watch light, filtering through a window, literally penetrating an object in its path.  I suppose these are a couple of the reasons I first picked up a paint brush, but there are a million and one reasons why I continue to paint.

I paint primarily in oils on linen panels, but occasionally use different techniques and approaches.  If a landscape, still-life, figure, animal or flower moves me with its colors, shapes, shadows, lights, temperatures, or just gives me a 'feeling'; I want to paint it.  I then set out to capture that certain element which initially intrigued me so that I can pass the experience on to you.............the viewer.

I love giving workshops and sharing my "little bit" of knowledge with others.  Please contact me directly if you are interested in scheduling one.
